Publication Charges
The Journal of Modern Social Sciences (JMSS) is a fully open-access journal committed to the belief that academic research should be available to all without financial barriers. Each published article is freely accessible to a global audience immediately upon publication, with no subscription or access fees. To uphold our rigorous editorial standards and ensure the long-term sustainability of the journal, JMSS has implemented the following fee structure:
1. No Submission Fees
- JMSS does not charge submission fees, allowing authors to submit manuscripts for initial evaluation without any financial commitment. This policy is intended to foster a diverse and inclusive range of submissions, enabling scholars worldwide, regardless of financial background, to contribute their research to the journal.
2. Editorial Fee
-
Once a manuscript progresses to the peer review stage, an editorial fee of $100 USD is required. This fee supports crucial editorial activities, including administrative processing, editor assignment, and the logistical management of the peer review process, all of which are essential to maintaining the journal’s commitment to timely and rigorous review.
-
Fee Waiver: JMSS offers an editorial fee waiver for manuscripts where the corresponding author is a registered student or faculty member. This waiver reflects our commitment to supporting early-career scholars and promoting academic equity.
3. Article Processing Charge (APCs)
- Upon acceptance for publication, an Article Processing Charge (APCs) of $400 USD is applied. This fee covers comprehensive costs associated with the publication process, including high-quality professional editing, typesetting, and digital publishing. Additionally, APCs support the development and maintenance of JMSS’s digital platform, ensuring that articles are disseminated via stable and reliable open-access channels.
- The APCs also fund initiatives that increase the visibility and impact of published research, such as indexing in leading academic databases and integration with advanced digital tools. These efforts enhance discoverability and ensure that JMSS’s articles are accessible and citable across a wide range of international scholarly platforms.
4. Article Retraction Fee
- If an article must be retracted due to substantive errors or ethical concerns, a retraction processing fee of $50 USD will apply. This fee covers the administrative costs of managing the retraction process, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to preserve the integrity of the academic record.
Waivers and Discounts
At JMSS, we are dedicated to promoting equitable access to academic publishing and understand that financial barriers should not prevent the dissemination of valuable research. We offer the following options to assist authors with financial constraints:
- Editorial Fee Waiver: A waiver of the editorial fee is available for students and academic staff, encouraging participation from a broad spectrum of the academic community and supporting emerging voices in the field.
- APCs Waiver: Authors facing financial hardship may apply for a waiver of the APCs. Each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with consideration given to the author’s financial circumstances and the potential impact of their research.
- Authors affiliated with institutions in low- and middle-income countries may be eligible for additional support, as part of JMSS’s commitment to fostering global diversity in scholarly publishing.
Our fee structure is designed to balance financial accessibility with the sustainability necessary to maintain our rigorous editorial standards, ensure immediate open access, and provide a high-quality publishing platform for cutting-edge social sciences research.
