Instructions for Authors

The Journal of Modern Social Sciences (JMSS) welcomes original and high-quality submissions in the fields of social sciences. Authors are encouraged to carefully review the following submission guidelines to ensure their work aligns with JMSS’s standards and publication requirements.

1. Scope and Relevance

  • JMSS accepts submissions in a broad range of social science disciplines, including but not limited to sociology, economics, political science, environmental studies, cultural studies, and psychology.
  • Manuscripts should provide new insights, empirical analysis, or theoretical advancements that contribute to the global discourse on social sciences.

2. Article Types

  • Research Articles: Original research presenting new findings, typically 6,000-8,000 words.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive overviews of specific topics, summarizing recent developments, 4,000-6,000 words.
  • Case Studies: In-depth analysis of specific cases, approximately 3,000-5,000 words.
  • Short Communications: Brief reports of data or research methods, 2,000-3,000 words.

3. Manuscript Preparation

  • Format: Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format.
  • Structure: Organize the manuscript with the following sections: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References, and Appendices (if applicable).
  • Font and Spacing: Use a standard font (Times New Roman, 12 pt) and double-spacing throughout the document.
  • References: Use APA style for in-text citations and reference lists. Ensure all references are complete and current.

4. Title and Abstract

  • Title: Concise and descriptive, ideally under 15 words.
  • Abstract: Provide a 150-250 word summary, outlining the research question, methods, results, and implications.
  • Keywords: List 4-6 keywords for indexing and search purposes.

5. Figures and Tables

  • Ensure all figures and tables are clear, labeled, and referenced within the text.
  • Submit figures in high resolution (300 dpi minimum) in formats such as .png or .jpeg.
  • Tables should be editable and formatted in Word or embedded in the manuscript file.

6. Ethics and Originality

  • Submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Studies involving human or animal subjects should include an ethical approval statement.
  • JMSS strictly prohibits plagiarism; all submissions will be checked for originality.

7. Copyright and Licensing

  • By submitting to JMSS, authors agree to publish under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the work in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Authors retain the copyright to their work, allowing JMSS to make their research widely available while ensuring appropriate attribution.

8. Submission Process

  • Submit manuscripts through the JMSS online submission portal at [Submission URL].
  • Ensure all supplementary materials (figures, tables, data sets) are included in the initial submission.
  • Authors will receive a confirmation email upon submission.

9. Peer Review Process

  • JMSS follows a double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts will be evaluated for relevance, originality, clarity, and contribution to the field.
  • The review process generally takes 4-6 weeks. Authors may be asked to revise and resubmit based on reviewer feedback.

10. Publication Fees

  • 2025 and Onwards: A publication fee will apply for accepted articles starting in 2025, following JMSS’s inclusion in academic databases such as CNKI . Detailed fee information will be provided upon acceptance.
