Publication Charges Policy for Journal of Modern Social Sciences (JMSS)

The Journal of Modern Social Sciences(JMSS) is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are freely available to readers worldwide without subscription fees. However, to sustain the journal’s operations and ensure the quality of the publication process, certain fees are required from authors. Below is a detailed breakdown of our fee structure:

1. No Submission Fees
We do not charge any fees for submitting a manuscript to JMSS. Authors can submit their research for peer review without any financial obligation during the submission process.

2. Editorial Fee
Once a manuscript is accepted for peer review, an editorial fee of $100 USD will be required. This fee covers administrative and editorial costs.

  • Fee Waiver: The editorial fee is waived for manuscripts where the corresponding author is a student or an academic staff member (faculty).

3. Article Processing Charge (APCs)
Upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication, an Article Processing Charge (APCs) of $200 USD is applied. This fee supports the costs of peer review, professional editing, and online publication, ensuring the article remains open access for readers globally.

Starting from 2024, we are pleased to offer a discounted pricing structure for the first several years, gradually returning to the full price by 2030. Below is the detailed discount plan:

  • 2024 (Year 1): 60% discount

    • Fees: $80

  • 2025 (Year 2): 50% discount

    • Fees: $100

  • 2026 (Year 3): 40% discount

    • Fees: $120

  • 2027 (Year 4): 30% discount

    • Fees: $140

  • 2028 (Year 5): 20% discount

    • Fees: $160

  • 2029 (Year 6): 10% discount

    • Fees: $180

  • 2030 (Year 7): Full price resumes

    • Fees: $200
  • The discount decreases by 10% each year until full price is reinstated in 2030.
  • Authors publishing earlier can enjoy significant savings.

4. Article Retraction Fee
If a published article needs to be retracted, a processing fee of $50 USD will be applied. This fee covers the administrative processes involved in managing retractions.

Waivers and Discounts
JMSS is committed to promoting inclusivity and supporting scholars, especially those facing financial constraints. We offer the following waivers and discounts:

  • Editorial Fee Waiver: For corresponding authors who are students or faculty members.
  • APCs Waivers: Authors facing financial hardship may request a waiver for the APCs. These requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
