Abstract

This research explores the contemporary preservation and development of traditional Yao women’s clothing in northern Guangdong, recognized as part of China's first batch of national intangible cultural heritage. This study investigates the utilization of digital design tools, specifically CLO3D, to preserve and revitalize traditional Yao women's clothing in northern Guangdong, China. By combining field research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and digital design techniques, the research explores the potential of CLO3D for optimizing the design process, enhancing the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, and facilitating the creation of contemporary fashion pieces inspired by traditional Yao aesthetics. The findings demonstrate the effectiveness of CLO3D in digitizing and creatively. designing Yao costumes, streamlining the design workflow, and facilitating the exploration of design elements from traditional sources. Furthermore, the research provides valuable insights for designers seeking to incorporate intangible cultural heritage into modern fashion while ensuring its sustainable development.
