Publishing policies
Standards, responsibilities and practical information across the ATRI journal collection.
Editorial standards & independence
Journal editors assess scholarly merit, relevance, methods and reporting. Commercial arrangements and publication-charge decisions must remain separate from acceptance. Authors should consult the named journal’s review model, submission instructions and scope before submitting.
For JMSS, research manuscripts proceeding beyond screening receive double-anonymous review by at least two independent external reviewers. The review policy for each other journal must be read on that journal’s own website; the JMSS arrangement is not a substitute for a journal-specific statement.
Peer reviewResearch integrity & publication ethics
Authors must report work accurately, cite sources and obtain permission for reused material. Editors and reviewers must preserve confidentiality, disclose competing interests and assess submissions fairly. Allegations of plagiarism, fabricated evidence, manipulated citations or other misconduct require evidence-based handling.
Publication ethicsPublication charges & waivers
Consult the selected journal’s current fee page before submitting. Charges and waiver arrangements are journal-specific; no fee purchases acceptance or database coverage.
Fees by journalOpen access, copyright & reuse
Published articles are accessible online. Reuse follows the licence displayed on the individual article, including any exclusions for third-party material. Authors should check the exact licence, version and repository conditions required by their funder.
Appeals, complaints & corrections
For an editorial appeal or a concern about a published article, contact the relevant journal’s editorial office with the manuscript ID or DOI, the grounds and supporting records. Identify any conflict involving the handling editor so the matter can be assessed independently.
Publisher-level complaints can be sent through the contact page. Corrections, expressions of concern and retractions should be reasoned, linked to the affected work and preserve the publication record except where exceptional legal, privacy or safety grounds require removal.
Find the right contactData, AI & ethical oversight
Authors should document methods, funding, competing interests, author contributions and the availability of supporting data or materials. Explain justified restrictions on sharing. Research involving participants or identifiable information needs appropriate ethical approval or a justified exemption and relevant consent.
AI tools cannot be authors. Substantive AI assistance should be disclosed and verified by the human authors. Confidential submissions, review reports and identifiable information must not be uploaded to public AI services. Individual journals provide their applicable submission requirements.
Preservation & continuity
Long-term preservation, website backup, DOI registration and search indexing are different services. Preservation arrangements should be stated and maintained at journal level.
