Abstract

In recent years, the ecological protection of river and lake environments has gradually gained attention from both the government and society. To achieve a healthy aquatic ecosystem, our country places significant emphasis on safeguarding river and lake environments. The long river system is managed through a responsibility framework that involves party and government leaders, focusing on addressing pollution and ecological damage in these areas. Since the nationwide implementation of the river chief system in 2016, central and local governments have introduced a series of policies aimed at protecting water environments in rivers and lakes. At the end of 2016, the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued guidelines on the comprehensive implementation of river management. These guidelines prioritize water conservation, spatial balance, systematic management, and the protection of water resources. The main tasks include improving water quality, restoring aquatic ecosystems, and actively exploring a management mechanism that establishes clear responsibilities, ensures coordination, enforces strict supervision, and provides robust protection for lake management. This framework aims to sustain the health of lakes and ensure their functions are utilized sustainably.
